Intesa Sanpaolo is a major domestic Italian banking group that was formed in 2007 through a merger of Sanpaolo IMI and Banca Intesa. Its roots within Italy go back as far as 1539, with its individual, small business, SME and industrial clients supported by regional brands and subsidiary banks such as the Banco Di Napoli. While it operates international subsidiary banks abroad, within Italy it offers services through its large branch network of 5,300 branches.
